Periodontal disease, often known as gum disease, is a progressive disorder mostly brought on by bacteria present in plaque. Infected and inflamed gum tissues from the bacteria can eventually cause the gums to tear away from the teeth if left untreated. Gum tissue recession, tooth loss, and bone loss are all possible consequences of untreated periodontal disease.
You might have periodontal disease if your gums are swollen, red, sensitive, or bleed easily. Gum disease also frequently causes loose teeth, difficult chewing, ongoing poor breath, and receding gums, which make your teeth appear longer than they should. Depending on your individual dental requirements, your gum disease will be treated.
